Aevit
Vitamin name: Aevit
Active Ingredients: Combination of two vitamins - A and E
Type: fat-soluble vitamins
Therapeutic actions: Vitamin A plays an important role
in vision, bone growth, reproduction, cell division and
differentiation. It maintains the surface linings of your eye and your
respiratory, urinary, and intestinal tracts. When those linings break
down, bacteria can enter your body and cause infection. The immune
system helps prevent or fight off infections by making white blood
cells that destroy harmful bacteria and viruses. Vitamin A may help
lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that fights infections,
function more effectively. Vitamin A also may help prevent bacteria and
viruses from entering your body by maintaining the integrity of skin
and mucous membranes.
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that exists in eight
different forms. Each form has its own biological activity, which is
the measure of potency or functional use in the body. Antioxidants such
as vitamin E act to protect your cells against the effects of free
radicals, which are potentially damaging by-products of energy
metabolism. Free radicals can damage cells and may contribute to the
development of cardiovascular disease and cancer. Studies are underway
to determine whether vitamin E, through its ability to limit production
of free radicals, might help prevent or delay the development of those
chronic diseases. Vitamin E has also been shown to play a role in
immune function, in DNA repair, and other metabolic processes.
